the complete and true tales of tumblr user the-muppet-joker
on may 10th 2023, tumblr user the-muppet-joker made his first post (1), a reblog of fanart of kermit and mrs. piggy from the muppets dressed as Gomez and Morticia addams, captioned "t4t couple crossover".
although this was very early on in the timeline, this reblog established the blog's aesthetic quite well. following this, the muppet joker reblogged a few more posts centered solely on muppets. interestingly, they did not tend to focus on kermit, but rather the 1986 film labyrinth (starring david bowie). however, a total of three minutes after his first post, he posted his first joker related post, and his first joint muppet and joker post (2): fanart of kermit wearing joker makeup, in front of a mirror which has "it's not easy being green" written on it. the post was captioned "the muppet show is taking a toll on him".
soon after this, three minutes to be precise, the muppet joker made his first original post (three): "all work and no play makes kermit a dull muppet", repeated multiple times over, with poor spacing, implying that the quote was copied and pasted repeatedly. this is a play on the proverb "all work and no play makes jack a dull boy", and was tagged with the shining, making it clear that the quote was a reference to the 1980 film, rather than simply the proverb.
amongst the many reblogs, an interesting post is one of a man who looks like jesus holding a kermit puppet against the wall, captioned "Met Jesus at a furcon. Found out he doesn't like Kermit." this is interesting, because as discovered later, the muppet joker is a devout catholic. this could be evidence towards the muppet joker being a troll, as it could imply that his catholicism was an element which only really appeared later on in the blog.
the second original muppet joker post read "its not fucking easy being fuckng green" (4), in reference to kermit's song, "it's not easy being green". however, contrarily to the first post, despite making no reference to the joker, it is tagged with both "joker" and "society".
16 minutes after the first post, the muppet joker switched to posting edits of the joker. a few posts in, he began switching between the characters every few posts, resulting in a fairly even mix of posts about the two franchises.
posting at breakneck speeds, the muppet joker then published his first actual fanfiction, although only in the form of dialog script:
Kermit: I know! How about another joke, Fozzy?
Fozzy: No, I think we’ve had enough of your jokes.
Kermit: What do you get…
Fozzy: I don’t think so.
Kermit: …when you cross a mentally ill muppet with a society that abandons him and treats him like trash!?
Fozzy: Call the police, Gonzo, call the police.
Kermit: I’ll tell you what you get! You get what you fucking deserve!

having returned to reblogging posts exclusively about the muppets, mainly about muppets with a darker twist, the muppet joker reblogged a post (5) of a screenshot of the show depicting Kermit giving Rowlf (another muppet - a dog muppet) a kiss on the cheek from tumblr user kissformuppet. the muppet joker tagged it with "old lovers" and "before the madness", implying a romantic history between him and Rowlf.
it is to be noted that youtuber strange aeons, whom i have immense respect for and whose videos i frequently watch, was rather misleading in her recounting of the order of some early posts. while she stated that the post reading "Hi-ho, Kermit the Frog here! Why so serious?" was posted before the post reading "You wanna know how I got these scars? They crucified me". the crucufixion post was, in fact, made 14 minutes before the hi-ho post (6), and neither were the muppet joker's first original post.
